Jory Herman is the Founder of the San Diego Bass Fest in 2016.  After moving to join the Los Angeles Philharmonic double bass section in 2017, he continues to be involved in the San Diego Bass Fest as a guest faculty.  Previously, he was a tenured member of the San Diego Symphony from 2010-2017 and has also performed with the National Symphony and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. A native of Houston, he received both a Bachelors and Masters of Music Performance in an Honors 5-year degree program at Rice University. Beyond the symphony, he is a regular performer at Art of Élan, Camarada, San Diego New Music, Carlsbad Music Festival, Camera Lucida, and other solo recitals. He maintains a private teaching studio as well as being the bass instructor for the Mira Mesa and Rancho Bernardo High School Orchestra programs and currently is a Studio Artist Teacher at San Diego State University. The Union-Tribune praised his debut album of music by J.S. Bach stating “You’ll never think of the bass the same way again.”  He performs on a modern double bass made by luthier Daniel Hachez in 2003 and bow made in 2017 by Bernard Walke.   For more information, visit www.JoryHerman.com
