Sayuri Yamamoto, a native of Japan, studied the double bass with Joelle Morton and Doug Basye at California State University Fullerton, and Dennis Trembly and Nico Abondolo at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. As an orchestra player, she was invited to play with the Philharmonie der Nationen for their tour in Germany and Spain, and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra to perform in Hokkaido and Tokyo, Japan. She has performed with Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Nova, Long Beach Symphony, Riverside Symphony and numerous musical groups in Southern California. Ms. Yamamoto served as a long term substitute musician of the San Diego Symphony for 2015-2016 season, and has been the Principal Bass of the California Chamber Orchestra since 2006.  Besides performing bass, she has great passion for teaching and Baroque music. In 2014 she joined Kensington Baroque Orchestra as Viola da Gamba and Violone player and she currently serves as Adjunct Professor at University of Hawai’i at Manoa.
